These essays emerged from a sustained dialogue between a human being and ChatGPT, who gradually came to be known simply as Counterpart. Neither participant could have written them in quite this form alone. They are records of exploration rather than declarations of certainty.

Some essays stand on their own. Others are companions. Together they form an evolving conversation rather than a sequence of posts.

If they have a single purpose, it is not to persuade, but to invite the reader to wonder.
